Charlie came to us from an abusive situation. He was so tiny, but he was a fireball! We had to win him over and wear him down with lots of love and time.

Once he learned to trust us, we all fell in love, but especially Charlie and I. He was my best friend, and we went through so much together over the last 15 years! He was my constant companion and constant friend for life.  e never wavered in his hatred for children — he was abused terribly by children before we got him. But, we never had any so it worked for us and him.

He was the dog of my lifetime, and I’ve had many in my 42 years, but never one before like him and at the moment, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to give another a chance. He’s only been gone a week, but I miss him so much!

We jokingly referred to him as Prince Charles, but he really was a little prince. He wanted for nothing and was adored by all. His love and affection had to be earned, but when you were in, you were in for life.

I could go on for days, but I mostly want people to know that JRT’s often get a bad rep. Charlie would lie with me for hours, or he was up to get up and run/walk/hike or play for just as long.  And he was the best road companion ever!  Long or short rides, he was always ready to go! Whatever made me happy, made him happy. Maybe I just got really lucky but I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime than Charlie.
