Candy was an immediate hit when she arrived at rescue a few weeks ago. No surprise there, given what an affectionate little puddin’ pop she is! Everyone is always looking for “shorties,” and this little girl couldn’t be “shorter” (and sweeter) if she wanted to.

Unfortunately, like many of our rescues, she arrived heartworm positive and needed to be treated, which meant she needed to be in a home where she could be comfortable and relax as this is crucial to recovery.

So, we put out a feel for fosters. Leslie Garrett and Chuck Warren stepped up to the plate. Chuck had been through heartworm treatments with a dog before, and they had both lost their 16-year-old JRT in February. They had a perfect living arrangement and an easygoing Border Collie mix named Perdita.

They came to meet her over the weekend and hit it off immediately. She spent most of her time in their arms, making sure they would take her home for more of the TLC and hugs that she craves. That lasted a whole 24 hours before she became known as “Sweetie Pie” … and as part of their permanent family.

Thank you to Leslie and Chuck for stepping up to help us treat this girl and for giving her a life full of love. It’s obvious from the photos that she is right at home.
