Recap of May

We had joy, we had fun, we had a wonderful month under the sun. There were fun days and miracle adoption days. What more could we ask for?

Georgia (middle), former GA JRT rescue puppy Pearl, is all grown up and beautiful!

Fun Day in May

We had so much fun hosting the place for Dogwood Jack Russell Terrier Club’s fun days in March, we did it again in May. It was a beautiful day with lots of entertainment, both from the pros who do this all of the time, to our rescues, who showed their potential … and some who just wanted to hang out with people and beg for burgers instead.

Brooklyn saying goodbye to Mama Donna

Brooklyn Goes Home

No sooner had we stopped reeling over Hartley’s unlikely but wonderful adoption in March, we received another amazing miracle: Brooklyn went home! Although Brooklyn did not have near the issues that Hartley did, he is definitely a senior boy who had battled a few kidney stones in his life. He, too, had become such a special part of our family, but, thanks to a post by Susie’s Senior Dogs, his lovely new family found him. They had just lost their JRT to cancer, but they were avidly looking for an older dog who needed them.

Yep, still makes us tear up when we think about it. Thank you, Laurie and Justin … and Susie!

Diamond with Mom

Diamond Goes Home

Brooklyn wasn’t the only adoption that had us reeling in May. Our hair was all ruffled up (in the good, honorary way) when Diamond finally found her forever home a week after Brooklyn. Although she was a volunteer and public favorite, our Diamond was a little “rough” around the edges. She needed some focus and attention and she was “iffy” around other dogs and children. But some very convincing emails and calls from Arndt and Inez in Canada (yes, Canada) changed everything and reminded us that the dogs can be completely different in homes than at rescue. Now known as Dixie, she gets along fine with her four-legged family … which includes a cat!
