Jack Flashback 2012: January

Flashpoint Fire

We won’t lie: The year started off on an incredibly heartbreaking note. Flashpoint Kennels in Rome burned to the ground on Jan. 3. More than 30 dogs (mostly Chihuahuas and Boston Terriers) died in the fire, but 23 Jack Russell Terriers survived. The news broadcasted it for several days. Words were spoken, people had opinions and tears were shed, but in the end? Twenty-three Jack Russells still needed homes and that’s all that mattered. It was time to take action.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of several rescues and individuals around the country, all of these beautiful babies were eventually relocated into rescues or forever homes. We still have two beautiful Jacks (Spruce and Lorelee) and an adorable Boston Penny who need homes.

This horrific event changed the lives of many and set the tone for the year: “From Tragedy to Triumph.”

Pet Bed Paradise

On the flip side of tragedy, the outpouring of generosity from our supporters was phenomenal in January. We received a huge order of pet beds from Animal Rescue Aid. Our guys and gals have been enjoying them ever since. We are in need of more for the indoor kennel we are working on. If you would like to donate, you can get all the information you need here.
