Another Grand Success
Thank you to everyone who made another Fall Vol Day a hard-working and highly-productive day!
With the help of a small village, we were able to get ALL of the kennels wrapped in protective plastic and prepared for winer. (Don’t worry, the dogs definitely come inside to the heated kennel on chilly nights. We just like to turn them outside for exercise during the days whenever we can.) They also all got fresh hay, in which they love to play, and had their beds, houses and even toys cleaned.
And, of course, all of the dogs got lots of exercise and play time in the field. Woohoo!

To kick off the day, our little John-John came home first thing in the morning from two days at UGA, where he was tested and evaluated for his nasty case of Pseudomonas. We'll have a full update (and, inevitably, a fundraiser) coming soon.
Odie is also back home after spending quite awhile at our vet's office, having his eyes, neck and back evaluated and treated. We'll also have a full update (and inevitable fundraiser) on him coming soon.
While their kennels were being cleaned and wrapped, the dogs all got TONS of play time in the field ... especially these two. Joey and Nubbin have never heard of the word S-T-O-P.
Once Missy saw a squirrel in the other yard, she totally lost it ... as well as her sweater. If you're looking for a "total JRT" who would be great at barn hunting, go-to-ground or any kind of Terrier hunting activitiy, this girl is the real deal.
Meanwhile, Skeety, too, saw something he was pretty sure he could catch ... a hawk. Good luck, buddy.
While Missy pursued her elusive squirrel and Skeety dreamed big over the hawk, Killian made sure he got as dirty as absolutely possible before we put him back in his clean kennel.
Nubbin found a bucket of toys ... Hang on, kiddo. Even these are all getting washed and given back to you guys and gals ... so you can dirty them up again.
Turner showed off his superior soccer skills yesterday during Fall Vol Day. This is not at all the same boy who arrived in the summer, in pain, barely able to lift his leg to pee, and showing teeth to most of the vols and visitors because he was hurting. He finally feels good, runs like the wind, gets along great with everyone.
Did we mention the dogs got tons of love, in addition to play time? Sweetie Petey always has a kiss, especially for Starbucks Daddy Mike. Thanks again for the hot coffee on a chilly day, Mike!
The inevitable snake of plastic was rolled out and preppred to wrap around the kennels. The weather held out for the most part, but we definitely had some chilly, dark and partially-wet moments.
After a good six hours of work by a tireless bunch, all of the kennels were wrapped and ready. Let's hope for a gentle winter.
