EPIC Fun

On Saturday, we welcomed a group of Emory Law School Students who are members of the Emory Public Interest Committee (EPIC) at Emory University.  One of our volunteers, Samantha Rayborn, is a member of EPIC and she organized the group to spend the afternoon with us as a part of their public service time.

The dogs were the real winners on Saturday with all the love and attention that the students gave them.  The group took every dog at the ranch on a walk (or two) and played with them in the field. We had one of our largest dog play groups ever on Saturday – seven(!) dogs played together in the field under the supervision of the students and our volunteers. Even our sweet Sugar, who is limited in activity due to her heartworm treatments, got lots of extra love and attention in her kennel.

In addition to all the fun, the group performed some much-needed chores, such as changing bedding and sanitizing the crates in the indoor kennel, changing out all the hay in the outdoor kennels, and poop scooping the play field.  With their hard work and assistance, we were able to complete a full day’s work in just a few hours.

We greatly appreciate their assistance, and the dogs benefitted greatly from all the socialization. We can’t thank Samantha and the members of EPIC enough for sacrificing time in their busy schedules to come to the ranch. We hope to see you again soon!

Volunteer With Us

We are a nonprofit 501(3)c, which means you and/or your school or business group can earn volunteer hours. Who doesn’t want to rack up required volunteer time while playing with dogs? Sure, there’s some poop-scooping and clean-up involved, too, but it’s mostly just a lot of fun!

If you’re interested, please complete our volunteer application and tell us about your group or goal. We’ll get in touch with you to arrange the next steps.

Spring Vol Day

One of the best days to join us is on a pre-designated seasonable vol dal when nearly our full team is on-site and ready to roll. We not only work hard, we play hard and eat heartily. Our spring vol day is scheduled for Saturday, April 9.
