Mondays are rarely fun days for anyone, but here’s some fabulous news — Dixie has been adopted!!!

This precious girl joined us in August 2013. She had been in foster care for some time after being saved from the same out-of-state rescue bust that brought us Rocky, Hannah and other dogs earlier in the year. She’s always been such a sweetheart, but could be a little shy to warm up to strangers who came to meet her. (She would, however, sell out in a second of a treat.) She could also be a little dominant around other female dogs, and the majority of our adopters already had other dogs.

Fortunately, a wonderful woman up north in Massachusetts saw her photo. She had recently lost her 16-year-old Rattie mix, and Dixie looked a little like her. Her only other pet is a cockatiel named Ms. Larry Bird (yes, that’s correct), which made things perfect. Through the wonderful connections of Doggie Harmony, we were able to pair the two and make a match. Dixie left rescue last week, and Mom drove three hours to pick her up.

Mom says she is totally in love with her (big surprise there), and Dixie is loving the good life, enjoying her view out of the window and her big fenced-in yard, which gives this active girl plenty of room to run. We are over the moon to see this precious baby finally find a home after so many years at different rescues. Thanks so much to DH for making this happen.
