Yes, we know the application is lengthy, but we want to make the best fit possible for everyone, especially the dog who has already lost one home. We appreciate your understanding and the time it takes to complete the application.

Please note that we will use your personal information for adoption purposes only and will never sell, rent, or share it with any third parties for any reason.

What does it mean to adopt a dog from Georgia Jack Russell Rescue?

It  means the adopter will agree to:

  • Provide proper and sufficient food, water, shelter, and kind treatment.
  • Have the dog immunized and examined annually at your expense and keep the dog on heartworm preventative.
  • License the dog as the city or county requires.
  • Not sell, abandon a or give away the dog, returning the dog to Georgia Jack Russell if for any reason the adoption is unsatisfactory or if circumstances dictate you cannot keep the dog.
  • Not permit the dog to run at large or become a public nuisance.
  • Always keep a means of identification on the dog, including updating the microchip information.
  • Immediately retrieve the dog from any animal shelter upon notification the dog is being held there.
  • Notify Georgia Jack Russell Rescue if the terrier is lost, stolen, or dies.
  • Keep the animal on a leash when outside proper confinement.
  • Arrange for proper care if the owner will be absent from home for a prolonged period.
  • Accept responsibility for any illness or injury occurring after adoption.
  • Assume all risks of ownership of the dog, including the risk of injury or damage caused by the dog, including bites.

We Know We’re Strict …

Most of our dogs have been failed by humans in the past, and it is our duty to see that does not happen again. So, are we strict? Yes. Do we check references? Yes. We do everything in our power to find the right home for the dog and the right dog for you.

If you have any questions, please ask. We are happy to help. The application is a must for adoption. Although this dog has received excellent care while here, it is the nature of rescue work that not everything about the history or status of the animal can be known.

Turn-Around Time

If your application is properly submitted, you will receive an immediate response on the website saying so.

Please allow us at least 3-5 business days to review the application thoroughly, check references/vets, and submit to our owner. We are volunteer-based and many of us have day jobs, so we must work on apps during our free time, wait for return calls, etc. We try not to make any decisions without having all information first.

Applicant Information

  • Please note: Our dogs are prone to bolt and often that's why they are at rescue. They will easily do so again in homes w/o fences or with electric fences. Also, there have been various reports of coyotes and other wildlife entering electric fences and attacking dogs. If you do not have a secure fence, this will affect approval unless you can specify how you will contain the dog sufficiently.

  • Please tell us about all other people residing with you, including their name, their age, and their relationship to you. Please note that we respect all individuals and families, traditional or modern, and do not discriminate in any way. We just want to find the best homes for our dogs; some do better with men, women and/or children than others.
